Happy Easter! 2015

He is risen! He is risen indeed!

Happy Easter everyone! I hope you had a beautiful day today! Mine was amazing. 🙂 I cannot begin to express how blessed I am to have such a large close-knit family. My Mom and Grandmas’ are awesome cooks and one day I hope I’ll be one too! For now – everyone will just have to enjoy my super-extra-well-done oven french toast. LOL!

Traditions make holidays super special. Some of the ones we have for Easter are having poppy seed rolls (passed down by my Czech grandmother), purchasing an Easter Lily, having a butter lamb and eating horse radish before getting our Easter baskets – the last two which we adopted from the Polish parish we were members of before. (We’re not Polack! Lol!) Variety is the spice of life. 🙂

And… of course I couldn’t resist and had to record the day through a series of pictures. Enjoy!

Morning sunlight on the eggins – anyone see Joker?

Happy Easter everyone!

After mass my brother and I met up with the fam for Easter breakfast. 🙂 Our family tradition which has been passed down from my great-grandmother who came from Czechoslovakia, is making poppyseed rolls for special occasions. This year my mom decided to do a new spin on our favorite by styling it as a Swedish teacake. 🙂

Here our the fruits of our egg coloring labors yesterday. Don’t they look lovely?

Lovely colored eggins

Our favorite Easter tradition was taken from a Polish parish our family were members of many years ago. This is a memory maker everyone. No child is immune from this. Everyone must consume a bit of ground horseradish before they receive their Easter basket. It is hilarious to watch but more importantly it also represents Christ’s bitter passion and death on the cross which had to be accomplished before opening the gates of heaven.

Ye evil horseradish!

I hope your day was filled with peace, joy and good company. 🙂

It’s Okay

It’s getting close to the end of December and my workload has just been doubled. There is so much to do and so little time to do it in – how can I enjoy the holidays???

While trying to de-stress and catch up on my internet-ing I came across this simple banner on Etsy…

Happy Thanksgiving! 2013

Thought I’d resurrect this old timey picture of chibi Anna in pilgrim attire ready to carve the turkey. The turkey doesn’t look too happy though! :3

I am thankful for my family who supported me through making the jump out of fast food into a job that pays a living wage. I am thankful for my siblings who are willing to lend a hand when I ask – and listen to me babble about cute crochet and Japan. :p I am thankful for those who supported my booth at Youmacon, those who’ve made me a better Etsian and for my blog followers . You guys really keep me thinking ahead so thank you. :3

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
