Cute Owl Case

‘Tis the season of giving! My boss always makes us holiday goodies and I wanted to show my appreciation with something I can do. My coworker had picked up a mug with an owl on it, so I thought I’d coordinate by using this super cute crocheted Owl Cell Phone Cozy pattern and gave it a go.

Changes: For this project I used fingering weight cotton instead of worsted weight yarn, opted for a rounded square shank button instead of the oval and omitted the jewels. In the pattern the toes weren’t separated enough for my liking so I adjusted the stitches to suit. So without further ado…
Voilà!

As it is fingering weight yarn, I knew it wouldn’t be a phone case so I made it into a Listerine Pocketpak holder. 🙂

Now thats cute AND useful! 🙂

Pour Some Sugar on Me! Sugar Rush Vanellope Cosplay

It’s that time of year again! Youmacon 2015 is right around the corner and for us convention hopefuls it is preparation time to pull together the outfits that we will don for the occasion. This year I have decided to attend as the adorable spitfire Vanellope Von Schweetz from the Disney film Wreck-it Ralph.

My declaration to my con companions: I am not a seamstress, and this is not the year I become one.

Being against sewing my own outfit has posed an issue with achieving the Vanellope look. As a consumer, I am at the mercy of online merchants to have something that may resemble what I desire. Items that are in trend can be found in plenty. Specific styles of workable skirts? Not so much. Specific colors of hoodies? Keep looking pal. After hours of various keyword combinations, I finally decided on the following four items to be the base of my cosplay…

Once these items arrive, other more creative and fun details will be finalized such as hair accessories, shoes, and clothing modifications that will make the outfit so Vanellope. 😉

Reason behind my choice: Vanellope is an overcomer. She was constantly told that she was a “mistake” a “glitch” someone without a purpose or place to truly call home. Once she saw Ralph’s medal hanging from the tree branch, hope sprung anew in her chest and she believed in herself and got someone else to believe in her too – even if it was just to get the medal back.

In the grand scheme of things, learning to drive a race car took Vanellope a very short period of time but it was a pivotal moment in her development as she had to have the courage to believe, shut out the negative voices that were keeping her down, and try.

Can’t wait for the packages to arrive! x3

Crochet Flower Brooch

This is a gift for a very special lady in my life – my mom. 🙂 I had seen the idea of making a crocheted button flower floating around Facebook and just had to try it out for myself! 🙂

I added the purple slip stitching, leaves and pin with backing on my own initiative. The final piece came out quite clean and I’m really pleased. I hope she likes it! (I love you Mom!)

Bren Bunny

 Hi Everyone!

Just wanted to share a picture I was having fun with this evening. Had come across a sketch of Bren Bunny in a notebook from The Tales of Bren Bunny & Tiger Bunny webcomic that I started in 2006 and just had to see it in color! TBH it’s been a really long time since I’ve done anything with this series but it was nice walking down memory lane. :3

I plan on working on ToBB&TB again – eventually. As I’m in the middle of significant life changes, it just not gonna be right now.
