Happy Birthday Sissy!

My sister wanted a double chocolate cake with sprinkles for her birthday, so I offered to make it.

Always the one for a challenge, I located a scratch recipe that called for espresso powder to deepen the chocolate flavor in both the cake and frosting. 🙂 I also decided it was time for me to try my hand at strawberry roses…

Boutonniere

My brother’s confirmation is just around the corner so in preparation for the big day, I found an easy tutorial on how to make a boutonniere. 🙂

On the day of I will be using a red flower, but for my practice run today I utilized items that I already had on hand: a yellow carnation and a Japanese Maple leaf for filler. Pretty stoked about how this one turned out, and can’t wait to make another!
