I have two goldfish, comets to be exact, and their names are Bubble and Squeak. I adopted them from my younger brother who had too many fish in his aquarium.

The fish have grown a lot since they came to live with me on June 17, 2012.
If you have ever had fish, you know the water/fish ratio. 1 inch of fish to a gallon of water and if you have “dirty” fish such as goldfish who produce an excessive amount of ammonia, they need even more water. Why is this a bad thing? When there is too much ammonia in the water the fish get stressed and their immunity goes down. When their immunity goes down they develop ick or other illnesses. The fish become lethargic, develop white spots and aren’t very interested in food. If treated right away, the fish will survive. And my comets do – I am a rather doting and caring “fish mom”. If they are acting weird I will even mention it to my brother! XD

Why am I bringing this up? Bubble and Squeak currently reside in a 3.4 gallon tank which is the same tank that they have lived in since they moved here. Over the last few months I have had to treat them for ick several times. A few days ago I finally thought about it because these guys caught it again. That’s when I pulled out the ruler…

Bubble measured in at 3 inches and Squeak at nearly 2! Too much fish for too little water. D’oh! When I pulled the carbon filter out of the tank and added the ick treatment I decided that it was time to give the fishes a new home. So once again I trekked to Meijers…

After rinsing everything off, I put on the background quite shoddily. Someone online said to use double sided tape which I bought – yet was unable to find in my room. So I used packing tape instead. 0:3
