Shojo Beat

Viz Media has been my primary manga source for the past four years, surpassing my fondness for Tokyopop because of one factor, Shojo Beat. I was hooked from the moment I laid eyes on the preview edition and subscribed the very next day. Before this point, I was never able to get into shojo manga because of the lack of variety and the inability to relate with their characters. Shojo Beat has brought the variety and relatable characters that I crave and I thank you for that. As a loyal consumer I have bought every last Shojo Beat magazine, and from Absolute Boyfriend to Yurara I have read, own or have owned 95% of all Shojo Beat titles, mainly because of the magazine. I have also branched out into owning other Viz titles, because Viz has brought me something I really enjoy. No amount of Shonen Jump can fill the void that Shojo Beat leaves in its wake. Shojo Beat was my friend, and you’ve killed it. Thanks.

ACI: Of the comics

In addition to dubbing this year as the year of first pages, it is also the year of finalized storylines. It is my decision to put a cap on creating new story ideas and instead redirecting that energy into working with the 80 plus story ideas I have started over the course of the past three years. Just by making this decision, four storylines have been finalized, and now have actual names as opposed to lame working titles. I am currently in the process of finalizing three more ideas, and making anna128 and The Tales of Bren Bunny & Tiger Bunny a reality.

anna128 was a wordy little comic I came up with during a lecture in November 2006, with the idea that it would become a daily comic, revolving solely around me and tweaking reality into a loose representation that could actually be considered amusing. In February 2007, I created the template for anna128 and drew the comics for months on end. Unfortunately my OS at the time did not support my scanner drivers, so I never bothered to actually make it common practice to finish off the anna128 comic panels which was the most idiotic things I’ve ever done. I currently have a hundred plus anna128‘s lying around, drawn on anything from napkins and paper towel, to notebook paper and newsprint not to mention anything else I could get my hands on. (time machine please!)
The Tales of Bren Bunny & Tiger Bunny was created in July of 2006 while I was at work, loosely based on the reality of the time. I only created a total of 8 stories during the span of two and a half months, none of which was fully thought through, just a few scribbles here and there… on towel paper. I originally posted it on Smackjeeves in October 2006 and instead of doing the comic, only Holiday Sketches (HS) ended up on the site. In June 2007, I reformatted the storyline releasing it from it’s reality restricted nature and it now has a more amusing and lighthearted 14 episode span(subject to change). January 9th 2008, I scripted The Tales of Bren Bunny & Tiger Bunny omake, Full Circle, which takes place years after the end of the comic. I am also working on creating The Tales of Bren Bunny & Tiger Bunny: The Evolution; showing the original character concept and comparing them to now.

Heres to a comic filled future!

Thank you for reading!
