ACI: Of the comics

In addition to dubbing this year as the year of first pages, it is also the year of finalized storylines. It is my decision to put a cap on creating new story ideas and instead redirecting that energy into working with the 80 plus story ideas I have started over the course of the past three years. Just by making this decision, four storylines have been finalized, and now have actual names as opposed to lame working titles. I am currently in the process of finalizing three more ideas, and making anna128 and The Tales of Bren Bunny & Tiger Bunny a reality.

anna128 was a wordy little comic I came up with during a lecture in November 2006, with the idea that it would become a daily comic, revolving solely around me and tweaking reality into a loose representation that could actually be considered amusing. In February 2007, I created the template for anna128 and drew the comics for months on end. Unfortunately my OS at the time did not support my scanner drivers, so I never bothered to actually make it common practice to finish off the anna128 comic panels which was the most idiotic things I’ve ever done. I currently have a hundred plus anna128‘s lying around, drawn on anything from napkins and paper towel, to notebook paper and newsprint not to mention anything else I could get my hands on. (time machine please!)
The Tales of Bren Bunny & Tiger Bunny was created in July of 2006 while I was at work, loosely based on the reality of the time. I only created a total of 8 stories during the span of two and a half months, none of which was fully thought through, just a few scribbles here and there… on towel paper. I originally posted it on Smackjeeves in October 2006 and instead of doing the comic, only Holiday Sketches (HS) ended up on the site. In June 2007, I reformatted the storyline releasing it from it’s reality restricted nature and it now has a more amusing and lighthearted 14 episode span(subject to change). January 9th 2008, I scripted The Tales of Bren Bunny & Tiger Bunny omake, Full Circle, which takes place years after the end of the comic. I am also working on creating The Tales of Bren Bunny & Tiger Bunny: The Evolution; showing the original character concept and comparing them to now.

Heres to a comic filled future!

Thank you for reading!

Anna checks in… November 12, 2007

Hey guys!

Happy November!

For those of you who aren’t familiar with me, my name is Anna San, I am a full time Graphic Design student with focus on web design. I am the owner of EverythingAnna.com and it is my intention to one day become a full fledged manga artist. You can also keep up with me at : deviantArt, twitter and Myspace.

Since my last update many things have transpired. Many good, and some bad. Bad being that my contractor pay was cut $2 so I am currently making below minimum wage.

Good as in this past week I found out that Michigan has an anime convention! Some of you may know of it already. It is Youmacon (Michigan’s First and Only Anime Convention). If everything goes well over the course of the year Everything Anna will be at Youmacon 2008 in the artist alley. If not… I’ll wander around like a dweeb with n00b tatooed on my forehead (don’t quote me on that!). Brrr… Just the thought of that sends shivers down my spine!

Everything Anna officially came out of construction on October 21st and the site is fully operational. I am still tweaking page content and as for my portfolio… I have all the images uploaded, but… I changed something and now I have to go back through all of them and resave them. My lack of finality really kills me sometimes.

My comic site is now online as the coding has been finished. As soon as I start posting on it, I will pass on the link. ;)

I finished the commission for Maru at KimonoGirlSite.com. Took me 8 months but I finally finished! (You can find the pic on my Everything Anna, deviantArt or Kimono Girl Site)

I picked up 3 manga books in solid Japanese several weeks back. D-Gray Man vol. 1 & 3 and one I haven’t a clue how to sound out. I was so thrilled to have a chance to actually purchase them, that I didn’t consider just how little Japanese I know… But at a buck and a half what otaku could pass it up??? :D

I found Fruits (Japanese street fashion book) at Borders today! At $30 I couldn’t purchase it, but I enjoyed looking through it ; even more so, Fresh Fruits. :) It was pleasing to finally see what the forum chatter was about.

Minor setback… My webcomic Anna128 has been delayed due to my school/work schedule. First comic is to be released in January. Sorry!

Tales of Bren Bunny and Tiger Bunny… just unmotivated to actually turn the notebook sketches into clean, scanable, panels. No amount of prodding will make me move any faster. Money might though. Mmmm…. money… lol.

Thanks for your continued support and patience!

Anna checks in..

Hey! Anna here. Once again writing between classes, so, unfortunately I have to keep this short.

Everything Anna’s new layout is finished (yay!) except for two minor details (boo…) one of which being passing validation.  Anyone who has coded seriously knows what a pain in the rear the validator is. Forget one little closing tag and then it says you have 23 errors or it says you have 2 errors and when you fix those, it suddenly comes up with 49 errors. Sometimes the program generates its own errors, especially in regards to nested tables and meta tags. Such a picky thing… *insert pouty lip here*

Some totally sweet triumphs of mine over the past week…

I created over 20 text pixels :D
Pixeled my very first Anna128 (portfolio webcomic) pixel
Created my first ASP page :)
Learned some new tricks with Photoshop
My Life Drawing figures no longer look like genderless blobs
I am getting better with foreshortening and proportions
Read a lot of manga
Found the greatest drawing technique book ever!
