Blogging Bygones

As an individual that has blogged since the spring of 2005, one may assume that I am a blogging genius by now. But that is the farthest thing from the truth. When I first started blogging I was very much gungho as one might say, and quickly established a circle of blog mates whose sites I would routinely visit and comment on and thus receive reciprocal attention. When college came into session, the novelty of the blog wore off, and those in my ring soon vanished as their lives also became busy. I sought out new blogs to fill the space the others left and after a short period of time, I did. The new ones, although fine to start, soon became some of the reasons I disliked blogging. They were whiners, complainers, used “the complete guide to inappropriate language” as their reference book and always wrote every last low thought that they had ever conceived about anything and anyone. As everyone is entitled to their own opinion and way of expressing themselves, I would overlook such things and comment lovelies anyway. In the end keeping such blog mates burned me because where I would usually find encouragement, enlightenment, comfort and cheer within my comment section, they spread the disease of offense and degradation.

By and by, these former blog mates got deleted from posting inappropriate content or moved on to other means of internet socialization. I carried on for a while but the damage already had been done. In June of 2006 I blogged my farewell and have been silent since.

Until now that is.

Looking back as an aspiring web designer, although I somewhat agree with my decision, I now wonder if it was in my best interest to back out of conversational/informational blogging. Such blogging is everywhere today, highly profitable and extremely useful. If I had kept at it consistently then, I would be on my way to a brighter tomorrow today. But thats looking at it in retrospect.
